Tromsø International Film Festival is a popular film festival and at the same time is an important meeting point for Norwegian and international film industry. TIFF 2013 was the 23rd edition of the festival. The festival has had an incredible growth since it first commenced in 1991. The total of admissions in 1991 was 5200 - in 2012 it was 53488. This makes TIFF Norway's biggest film festival. The Tromsø international film festival except of Competition
Program Includes films from the programs: Critic's choice, Films from the North, Focus Skate, Horizons and seminars. Film Festival was organized very good and whole city lived with in love to cinema. The main prize for the competition program is the Aurora, an award of NON 100 000 (ca. 13 000 Euro) to the Norwegian film distributor who can ensure the import of the film.
Other juries assess the competition program, the FIPRESCI-jury with members of the Federation International organization of professional film critics and film journalists. In addition to competition prizes, The Tromsø Palm Award and The Norwegian Peace Film Award are given to films from two different sidebars. The Tromsø Palm (Tromsøpalmen) is awarded to the best film in the Films from the North, along with the sum of 5000 Euros to the film’s director. Besides that The Tromsø Audience Award – is the audience’s chance to speak their mind and pick the best film at the festival.
FICC-jury consisting of members of the international Federation cine-clubs also worked on the festival. TIFF had FICC hosting for the first time in 2000. This year's competition program included 13 films, it is the truth not newest film product, but they are so interesting. These are: IN THE FOG-Director: Sergey Loznitsa, LORE-Director: Cate Shortland, THE WOODSMAN AND THE RAIN-Director: Shuichi Okita, HOW TO MAKE MONEY SELLING DRUGS-Director: Matthew Cooke.
FICC jury awarded The Don Quixote Prize to film -"In the House" by director Francois Ozon. The film explores the theme of present era, in which the moral and ethical values are at stake.
